Native Tylerites Jack and Robbie Cowan returned to East Texas from Dallas in the mid 1970s and began to purchase rental properties. Noting the lack of a professional company to manage residential real estate, they soon founded Cowan Property Management, the first in Tyler to specialize in this unique niche market. They operated the business successfully for decades, until they decided to retire in 1997.

The company was purchased and re-named in 1997 by Jolie Smith. Jolie had worked with the Cowans for years, earning her Real Estate Agent’s license and, subsequently, her Broker’s license, as she learned the property management business from the ground up. Jolie’s commitment to the industry, company growth, as well as long-term relationships with owners, tenants, and employees, cultivated an atmosphere that helped CPM become an industry cornerstone in Smith County.

Today, Owner/President Ro Allan continues to foster a culture of homeowner and tenant advocacy through her years of experience leading the team at CPM.
