Spring Checklist for Tenants

And just like that, winter moves out of East Texas and the promise of Spring hangs in the air. The arrival of warmer weather is the perfect time to prepare your lawn and landscape to achieve a beautiful and healthy yard this season!

Clean Up Debris Remove any debris such as leaves, twigs, and fallen branches that have accumulated over the winter months.

Raingutters Clean out raingutters and flush downspouts to ensure proper flow.

Fertilization Select a high-quality fertilizer formulated for spring application. Look for fertilizers with a balanced ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) tailored to the grass in our region.

Overseed Bare Patches Overseeding is a technique used to fill in bare patches and improve the density of your lawn. Choose a high-quality grass seed blend suitable for the East Texas climate and spread it evenly over bare areas.

Weed Control Spring is the ideal time to tackle weeds before they have a chance to take hold and spread. Apply a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weed seeds from germinating, and spot-treat any existing weeds with a selective herbicide. Also, don’t forget to remove ‘trash trees’ that sprout up!

Mowing and Edging As temperatures rise, your grass will start to grow more vigorously. Begin mowing regularly, gradually lowering the cutting height as the season progresses. Keep your lawn mower blades sharp and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade at a time. Don’t forget to edge along sidewalks, driveways, and flower beds for a neat and polished appearance.

Mulching and Watering Apply a layer of organic mulch around trees, shrubs, and flower beds to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and improve soil health. Be sure to water your lawn in accordance with your lease.

By following these steps and staying proactive in your lawn care routine, you can ensure that your lawn emerges vibrant and healthy in time for spring in East Texas! Questions? Please call CPM at 903-595-0000.
